Summary:
The murder on the links. Hercule Poirot rushes to France in response to an urgent and cryptic plea from a client. But the Belgian detective arrives just too late: the man who had summoned him is found dead on a golf course, stabbed in the back with a letter opener and wearing an ill-fitting coat with a mysterious love letter in its pocket. Strange circumstances multiply, culminating in the discovery of a second body stabbed with the same murder weapon. While the local authorities pursue the false leads suggested by the evidence, Poirot relies instead upon his famous "little grey cells" to cut through the confusion and untangle a story of blackmail, forbidden love, and a long-buried secret.
The mysterious affair at Styles. Agatha Christie's first novel, introduces the characters of Hercule Poirot, Chief Inspector Japp and Captain Arthur Hastings. In the midst of World War I, the residents of Styles wake one morning to find Emily Inglethorpe has been fatally poisoned. Captain Hastings, staying with the family, enlists the help of his old friend, Belgian detective Hercule Poirot. With the evidence mounting against one member of the family, Poirot uses his technique to prove who really killed Emily.
The Man in the brown suit. The Man in the Brown Suit, originally published in 1924, features Anne Beddingfield, an orphan who craves adventure and moves to London in search of it. While at the tube station after failing a job interview, Anne watches a man fall onto the track and die. A doctor swoops in to declare the man dead, and hurriedly leaves. However, Anne picks up a note he dropped, which seems to be connected to his death. It all seems a little too strange, and Anne finds herself in the adventure she was always dreaming of. Suddenly, she is headed to South Africa to solve the mystery of the man’s death.
The Secret adversary. Hiring themselves out as "young adventurers" proves to be a smart move for Tommy and Tuppence. All Tuppence has to do in their first job is take an all-expense paid trip to Paris and pose as an American named Jane Finn. But with the assignment comes a bribe to keep quiet, a threat to her life, and the disappearance of her new employer. Now Tuppence's newest job is playing detective.
