Summary:
"I'm stuck. What's wrong with me? Is this all there is? Psychotherapist Satya Doyle Byock hears these refrains regularly in her work with Quarterlifers, individuals between the ages of (roughly) twenty and forty. She understands their frustration. Some clients have seemingly done everything "right"-- graduated, get a job, meet a partner--yet they feel unfulfilled. Byock calls these Quarterlifers "Stability Types." Others struggle with this socially prescribed path but feel adrift. She refers to them as "Meaning Types." While society is quick to label these emotions as traits, Byock sees things differently. She believes that these struggles are part of the developmental journey of Quarterlife, a distinct stage every person goes through and that has been virtually ignored by popular culture and psychology."-- Provided by publisher.
