Summary:
"Equipped only with pen and paper (and perhaps a recorder or even a computer) Punahou School Contemporary Hawaiian Issues students ventured out into the Honolulu environs in order to get personal interviews about 'life' during the second world war of the past century. Family members, friends and neighbors became the willing participants in this collection of oral histories. Most of my Punahou students started with questions about December 7, 1941 ... the day Japanese bombs fell on Pearl Harbor. This became the focal point for most of the interviews..."--Carl Rogers Ackerman, Punahou School, May 28, 2001 (Memorial day).
