    Summary:
Hawaii Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Report 1994-2000, Hawaii Progress Toward healthy People 2000 presents an analysis of progress that Hawaii has made towards meeting objectives outlined in the Healthy People 2000 agenda. The analysis was based on data obtained in Hawaiian Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) surveys conducted between 1994 and 2000. Data presented for progress toward meeting 33 Healthy People 2000 objectives stratified by age, sex, ethnicity, and geographic region of the state and organized into the following categories: (1) Physical activity and fitness; (2) nutrition; (3) tobacco use; (4) substance abuse; (5) heart disease and stroke; (6) cancer; (7) diabetes and chronic disabling conditions; and (8) other non-chronic disease conditions, including unintentional injuries and oral health. The report also tabulates data on the prevalence of overweight among Hawaiians using the new definition of a body mass index of greater than 25.
