    Summary:
The Certificate of Hawaiian Birth Program ("delayed birth registration") was begun in 1911 to register a person born in Hawaii who was one year old or older and whose birth had not been previously registered. Note: "Hawaiian Birth" simply means born in Hawaii. This program was terminated in 1972, replaced by a process called Late Birth Registration. The delayed registration process was begun in 1911, so the attached index includes many births prior to 1911 but registered after that date. The earliest birth date in the database is 1859, the latest is 1970. If a relative's name is located, the searcher must record pertinent information from the Index to obtain a certified copy of the record from the Department of Health. See http://health.hawaii.gov/vitalrecords/ for more information about acquiring certificates. Please use information with care. The Index contains personal information about individuals, many of whom are still living.
